Christmas in the time of Covid-19

First, I must apologize to you guys. I have been so busy with life and graduate school, that I have completely neglected the blog. A lot has been happening and it feels like the year, just like a bad dream, has flew by, leaving us breathless. Now, we are waking up to Christmas in the time of Covid-19.

Should we celebrate Christmas in the time of covid-19?

So, should we dwell on our misfortune or should we numb our minds to the realities around us and celebrate?  I think it should be something in between. It is Christmas after all. We must celebrate and honor the fact that we still have each other, while remaining cognizant of the impact of covid-19 on our lives.

Christmas in the time of covid-19

A pandemic Christmas

As we celebrate Christmas in the time of covid-19, we may not have that big family dinner. However, it is a small price to pay to have our loved ones alive for other Christmases to come. Perhaps, there may not be gifts under the Christmas tree -that is if your mind is even in the right place for that- but everyone you have ever loved are still here. Or, sadly, if you are one of many who will be staring at an empty chair on this Christmas eve, take comfort in the beautiful memories of your dearly departed. Honor their lives by living yours to the fullest, because that is exactly what they would have wanted you to do.

The true meaning of Christmas

As we commemorate, either with some family members or even alone on Christmas day, remember that Christmas is about love. Therefore, know that it is an act of love to celebrate with your grandparents through platforms such as zoom or facetime. It is also an act of love to wear a mask and practice social distancing to protect the vulnerable ones.

My Celebration

As for me, I will be spending this holiday with some family members. Most of them are far away from me. But, thanks to technology, my family will be ever so close.

Until then,

Merry Christmas!

Xoxo, JP

  1. Happy Independence Day
    To all of those
    Who struggle to stop
The descent into hell of our country!

    Happy Independence Day
To the defenders of national dignity!
    But eternal shame
    To the criminals of lese-nation!
